A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Harlem Shake on Friday. It was a BLAST! We really needed that time to unwind and have a little fun. I think everyone broke out in a sweat because of all of the dancing and laughter. THANK YOU Niki for putting together the video. :) Monday Mtg-Don't miss the baby shower for Brandy in the library at 3:30. Leadership Team Agenda-PLEASE make sure you read our agenda/minutes from Friday. It is located under the Leadership Team page. We went over a lot of information including...standards based grade cards for next year, CAP ELA and Math, grade level meetings, theme for next year, special class schedule and more. MAP Assembly-Just a reminder that we will have our second round with students participating in our obstacle course this morning at 9:00! Summer School-Enrollment forms are due this Friday, May 3rd. If you have a student who is reading BELOW BASIC, please let me know. We will need to send home a required summer school form with those students by May 10th. Staff Updates-Felecia Creed will be moving to second grade at Willard North next year. She will be missed! We started interviewing other candidates for her position last week and will continue this afternoon. Summatives-Tenured staff will be receiving a copy of summatives this week. I will place a paper copy in your mailbox for you to review. I will then schedule a time for us to meet and review the document. We can make changes if needed before saving and signing the electronic copy. I will also continue with walk-throughs for the remainder of the year. Teacher and Staff Member of the Year-It is that time again to vote for TEACHER and STAFF MEMBER OF THE YEAR. You will need to cast your vote by Friday, May 3rd. 2013-2014 Theme-Next year the district will have a new mission statement...STUDENT FOCUSED--STRONGLY CONNECTED--SUCCESS DRIVEN. Let me know your thoughts on incorporating this mission statement as our theme for next year. We could have the statement on a shirt and stay with a Willard theme. THOUGHTS??? Would you prefer this new mission statement or something else. I will need feedback...email me! :) :) I know you have been working hard to prepare your students all year. I have really enjoyed popping in a watching MAP Attack the past month. I have seen some amazing instruction and test prep in each classroom. THANKS so much for everything you do...YOU ARE THE BEST! MAP Kick-Off Assembly-Just a reminder that we will have our MAP Assembly Monday, April 22nd and Monday, April 29th at 9:00 in the cafeteria. I have heard some rumors that some teachers have some pretty creative costumes and dance moves to show off their enthusiasm!! :) MAP Testing Schedule-Here is a copy of our MAP schedule. Mid-Quarter Reports-These reports will go home with students on Tuesday. Monday Mtg-We will have cadre meetings after school. April 26th-Just a reminder that students will be dismissed at 12:30 on Friday. Please follow our 1/2 day schedule. We will have a Leadership Team at 2:00 in the library. Welcome-At this time we have two new WS faculty members for next year. Michelle Christensen will be our music teacher and Karen Flores will be our new WS preschool aide. They will be a great addition to our WS family. WELCOME ABOARD! Secretaries Day-Don't forget that we will be celebrating Secretaries Day on Wednesday. You should have received a flyer in your mailbox on Friday. :) Kindergarten Music Program-Don't miss the kindergarten music program on Thursday at 3:00 and 7:00!! I know we can become distracted and overwhelmed with our daily tasks here at school and at home. Hang in there and make the most of every day. Brownies and Dancing-THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...for all of your help last Thursday evening. We had a great crowd at our Parent Appreciation Dance and the Brownie Wars. I really appreciate everyone who helped out with this special event. It was a blast!! Kindergarten Screening-This Tuesday we will be welcoming our newest WS tigers to our building. Please make sure you welcome these little ones and their parents. We will be using the library, computer lab, conference room and Linda's classroom for the screening. Music Position-As most of you know, our amazing music teacher will be staying home with her family next year. This is a great opportunity for Rachel and her family. We will TRULY miss her energy, creative music programs and smile here next year. Due to this new resignation, we will be interviewing applicants for her position on Monday morning. We will interviewing in the office conference room from 8:00-9:30. Monday Mtg-Sarah will have a brief meeting for everyone involved with MAP testing on Monday. We will meet in the library at 3:30. Mid-Quarter-This Friday, April 19th is mid-quarter. Mid-Quarter reports will go home with students on Tuesday, April 23rd. School Messenger-New and improved! An email went out to parents in the district regarding this new communication tool last week. This service will greatly improve our ability to quickly inform parents about important school-related matters. This new system will allow us to contact parents within a matter of minutes regarding school closings, emergencies, attendance, and important matters by email and/or phone. Beginning Monday, April 8, we will launch the first part of this system by beginning to automatically notify parents when their student is absent from school. Stan also sent you an email about the importance of adding comments to your absentee slips. This will be a GREAT resource for our building and district! Calendar-Make sure you keep looking at a our calendar of events. This time of year gets BUSY very quickly! (Writing Prompts, DRA assessments, MAP testing, Field Day, Transition Day...) MAP Training-We will have MAP training at the WHS Auditorium on Monday, April 8th from 3:45-4:45. Danielle Sellenriek will be leading this meeting for all elementary buildings. I need all staff members involved with testing to attend this meeting. This is a mandatory training. If you have any questions, let me know! Parent Appreciation Dance/Brownie Wars-Don't miss this annual event! The festivities begin at 6:00. The kids LOVE to see their teachers on the dance floor. This is a fun family event...bring your little ones and enjoy! Out of the Building-I will be out of the building Monday afternoon and Thursday morning due to several meetings. |
