It is official...the Christmas countdown has started! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break. I know that some of you REALLY COMPETITIVE PEOPLE enjoyed the crowd and thrill of early Black Friday shopping this year. There is at least one staff member (Ok---LORI) who is already finished shopping and enjoyed sleeping in over the break! It will be a fast and furious four weeks until our holiday break arrives. Please make sure that you keep up to date by checking our calendar of events. It is filling up quickly! Monday Mtg-We will not have an early out meeting. Please use this time as a grade level planning time. You might want to discuss scoring guides and Mastery Connect. Next week our CAP ELA and Math grade level reps will have meetings. Admin Mtg-I will be gone this morning to an A-Team meeting at WMS due to the November BOE meeting being moved to this evening. Grade Level Mtg-We will meet briefly to discuss iPads. Please bring your iPad and be ready to discuss how your are utilizing them in your classroom. Observations-My goal is to have three observations per teacher by Christmas break. This round I will be looking at your lesson plans also. PLEASE make sure you have detailed plans on your desk each day. I will also be scheduling a meeting with each staff member prior to break to discuss the evaluation process, get feedback from you, go over your PD plan and the goals that you have set for yourself this year. Tiger Pride Assembly on TUESDAY-Don't forget to fill out the MVT spreadsheet by the end of the day on Monday. I will eat lunch with MVT on Thursday from 11:30-1:00. December Newsletter-The newsletter will go home with students on Friday. Please let me know if you would like for me to add something. WOW Treats-Don't miss the WOW treats in the workroom on Wednesday. If you received one of our TRAVELING TROPHIES you will need to find a deserving recipient also. Here is the spreadsheet to fill out and I will also post it in the workroom! Empty Ink Cartridges-If you have any empty ink cartridges, please send them down to Lindsey Arnall. I don't know about you but I am ready for a big THANKSGIVING feast and a few days of rest! That break is in our near future. Hang in there! Monday Mtg-We will have Leadership Team meeting after school from 3:30-4:30 in the library. Food Drive-Email from Sarah B...We are going to be having a friendly food drive competition between grade levels. When your students bring in a food item, please place it outside of your door. Student Council members will be coming around to collect food/items and tally how many items your class brought. They will be doing this each day. At the end of the week, the grade level with the most food collected will win an extra recess. Chrysta and I will cover the duty. Please encourage your kids to bring in items and to bring them to you. Let me know if you have questions. Fundraiser-We had an OUTSTANDING fundraiser this year! I received word from The Chip Shoppe last week with our profit total.....$9,866!!!! Once I receive my final report I will set up limo rides and the "special" activity with me for students who sold 12 or more items. Our fundraiser items will be delivered on Thursday. I need a few volunteers to help with pick up. Please sign up here if you can help! No Grade Level Mtgs on 11/13 and 11/20!! Mid-Quarter-Don't forget that this Friday is mid-quarter. Reports will go home with students on Tuesday, November 20th. Admin Mtgs-I will be out of the building Tuesday from 11:30-2:30 and Wednesday from 9:00-12:00 due to several admin meetings. : ) We will have another BUSY week! CAP, voting, cadre meetings, grade level meetings, picture retakes, music program, Veteran's assembly, 1/2 day for students and PD for teachers!!! Math CAP Mtg-We will be meeting at Conco on Monday, November 5th from 8:00-2:30. Don't forget the following... 1. Laptop 2. CCSS Binder 3. Math resources - Investigations, Harcourt, etc. Monday Meeting-Cadre meetings after school from 3:30-4:30. Grade Level Meeting-We will be scoring your Read the Walls for November. Please make sure you bring your writing samples and fill out your writing grids. We will be analyzing your data. VOTING!!!-Don't forget that Willard South is a polling location for election 2012! Voters will be using the gym this year due to presidential election. I NEED EVERYONE TO PARK IN THE LAST TWO ROWS OF OUR PARKING LOT! We need to reserve the handicap locations and the first couple of rows for patrons. We will also have a police officer on duty due to the expected turnout for voting. Lori will be moving PE classes and will communicate changes with teachers. Hat Day-Tuesday is HAT day! Please place your canned goods outside your classroom. Student Council members, Emma Loeber, Andrew Davenport, Virginia Whitman, will be picking up the items after our morning announcements. Picture Retakes-Wednesday is picture retake day. Lifetouch will be set up in the cafeteria. Carrie sent home forms with all of the students who enrolled after our first picture day. I will place a few extra forms in your mailbox for other students who need retakes. You can send students down to the cafeteria at the times listed below. (Stan will also give a "final call" over the intercom) 8:30 ECSE 8:45 2nd Grade 9:15 3rd Grade 9:45 4th Grade 10:00 Kindergarten 10:15 1st Grade A-Team Mtg-I will be out of the building from 9:00-? on Wednesday for A-Team. Music Program-Don't miss the 3rd grade music program at 3:00 and 7:00 on Thursday. You will be singing along with the students...who lives in a pineapple under the sea????? : ) : ) : ) Veteran's Day Assembly-This is our BIG annual assembly to recognize some very special guests. Please remember that we will NOT have special classes. I will have a program to everyone by Wednesday. If you receive forms back, please send those to the office. *****Niki and I have decided to do something a little different for the video. We will NOT be recording classrooms recite the poem that was emailed out last week. We will be making signs thanking each veteran in attendance and take a picture of the student holding the sign. We will then create the video in Animoto. It should be a little easier. PLEASE be flexible as we go around and take pictures this week. THANKS!!***** Friday PD-We will be joining forces with Willard Central on Friday. They will be coming over to WS for a hands-on meeting regarding Mastery Connect. I need all classroom teachers to report to the library (with your laptops and iPads) by 1:20. We will be covering district assessments, adding them to a tracker, creating bubble sheets, scoring with a camera and/or iPad, practicing with our district writing scoring guides... |
