Free Breakfast for Students-I have been working with Nancy Arnold and Bill Burch (Director of Food Service) about offering free breakfast for ALL students here at WS. I am happy to announce that we will be kicking this off April 4th! That means ALL students will eat FREE BREAKFAST for the remainder of the year. We will have several letters and emails that will be sent to parents about this GREAT opportunity for our students. We would LOVE for you to promote this in your classroom also. The key to funding this is student participation. Students will be eating in the cafeteria like normal. The only difference is that we will be using two serving lines...a cold line (cereal) and hot line (hot food). This will take a little time to get students in a new routine. More info coming soon....... :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) 7 Habits Kick-Off-We will begin kicking off the 7 Habits of Happy Kids to our students and families next week. You need to attempt to meet face to face with any family of a student struggling academically or behaviorally. You do not need to meet face to face with all parents. However, you will need to communicate this to parents. Parents may want to meet with you and you should make that available.
NO MORE MONEY April 1st!!! You will not be able to request PO's or money after April 1st. It takes about that long to get books accurate for the end of the year for all outstanding PO's. Summer School Info: Be thinking about whether you want to teach summer school or not. The dates are May 31st-June 24th and the pay is $3200. I will be the administrator at WOHE and Melinda Miller will be working at WN. We will have an online registration form this year. I will have more information to you after I meet with Mr. Pratt on Monday afternoon. Principal and Teacher surveys: It's that time of the year to fill out surveys:)
Thoughts about these surveys....#1 Do NOT freak out! I actually appreciate the feedback you guys have given me over the years. Even the feedback that is hard to hear has helped me to try harder and do better. You will always have a parent or student that doesn't click with your style. There is just no way that I have found to make everyone happy. Most importantly I want you to learn and reflect from your results. If you notice a theme coming back to you each year, you should reflect on that to improve. Most of what I notice are positive comments and results. I am pretty sure the good far outweighs the bad on these surveys. MAP Training - Since we have school on Monday March 28 will have district-wide MAP training at the HS theater again. Everyone giving the MAP MUST attend this training. I will also make contact with some other teachers to attend the training for subs if needed. District Growth hours - PLEASE make sure you are putting your hours in TalentEd for district growth. These hours are required. These are due by the end of the year. |
