We are off to an amazing start! I want to thank EVERYONE for all of their hard work, planning and collaboration. Linda dropped in last Thursday during your grade level planning time and said she was blown away. I know that your plates are full this year with new curriculum, reporting system, resources and more! I am here to support you with anything you need. I truly appreciate all of your dedication and positive attitude during these changes. I know that all of your hard work will pay off with student progress and learning. WS STAFF IS THE BEST!! Monday Mtg-We will have DRA training in the library after school from 3:30-4:30. All classroom teachers, reading teachers and special ed need to attend this meeting. New PD Opportunity-As you know, if we are not life long learners and keeping up with educational changes, we are falling behind! This year EVERY certified staff member will be compensated for their own Professional Growth. In the past, IE participants could log hours and be compensated for their own learning opportunities. This year ALL certified staff members will be required to participate in IE by logging six hours of PD. This is your time to learn, grow and get paid! (ex. weekend workshops, online PD, blogging, after school workshops...) I will explain more about this new opportunity during grade level meetings on Tuesday. You will also receive an email from Danielle Sellenriek on Monday regarding this new process. Building Improvement Plan-Last year the entire faculty helped develop our building plan. However, this year it was due to Central Office by August 1st. So, with input from our Leadership Team a plan was created and submitted to Stewart, Dr. Medlin and the BOE. Here is a link to our plan that will continue to drive our grade level meetings and keep us all focused this year. Monday Mtg-We will use today as a sign up and first meeting for our Climate Cadre and FACT Cadre. If you would like to help on either cadre this year, please attend the meeting. Climate will meet in the library and FACT will meet in the computer lab. If you are NOT attending a meeting, please use this time to meet as a grade level or extra planning time. Extra Helpers-I wanted to tell everyone who helped with lunch, breakfast, car and bus duty THANK YOU!! We are off to a great start because of your extra help. :) Grade Level Mtgs-We will meet in Linda's room on Tuesday during your planning time. Please bring your laptop. We will be setting up profiles for our new school website. We are off to a great start! I hope everyone enjoyed our celebration on Monday afternoon. Once school begins we get so busy and wrapped up in our daily tasks it is hard to get away from the building. It was great to start off the year with a few laughs, good food and conversations with our colleagues!!! Meet the Teacher Night-WOW! We had a great crowd that started rolling in the doorway around 5:30. I hope your evening went well. It is always good to see new and familiar faces to kick-start your school year. THANKS for making last night such a special evening for our families. First Day of School-We will have LOTS of extra helpers around the building tomorrow. (bus duty, breakfast, lunch, car...) Please make sure that you know how your students will be getting home the first couple of days....LABEL them! Let me know if you need ANYTHING! District Polo-Don't forget to wear your district polo shirt tomorrow! Reminders-Below are a few things that need to be completed by Friday, August 16th.
